- Organization: ABA Military Pro Bono Project
The following new cases are in need of pro bono assistance through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. For more details and contact information, visit http://bit.ly/MPBPnewcases.
IDAHO:
Boise: An Air Force servicemember needs pro bono help to do a stepparent adoption. Her new husband, also in the Air Force, would like to adopt her son. The mother has sole custody of the child and the father has no involvement in the child’s life. The father was separated from the military based on mental health problems and has not been paying child support. (#434)
NORTH CAROLINA:
Goldsboro: An Air Force servicemember’s spouse has left the state with their child and has indicated an intention to end their marriage. The servicemember needs legal assistance to prepare a separation agreement and to secure access to and visitation with his child. (#562)
VIRGINIA:
Richmond: A Marine stationed in California has a Virginia child support order for which he is the obligor. This order was recently modified, and he contests the modification. He has filed an appeal and needs pro bono counsel to assist him in developing his arguments against the way in which support was calculated in the new order. (#572)
WISCONSIN:
Baraboo: An Air Force servicemember served with an order to show cause in a paternity matter filed in Sauk County. The airman signed a paternity acknowledgement and needs help to both respond to the suit and to appear at a hearing next month. He is out of state and cannot afford either an attorney or to travel to Wisconsin. The other party is represented by counsel, so he needs an attorney to help him protect his interests. (#573)
