Representing Service Members and Veterans CLE

Sign up to attend this FREE 5.5 credit CLE that will focus on representing service members and veterans. On Saturday, October 29th, at William & Mary Law School, spend the morning learning about issues related to civil representation of service members in Virginia, and the afternoon on disability compensation claim representation of veterans. Attendees will be asked to consider potential referrals of pro bono or reduced fee representation for a service member or veteran's case in the coming year.

 

Topics will include:

  • Cultural Competency when Representing Those Who Wore the Uniform
  • The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and its Effects on Virginia Landlord-Tenant Law
  • Consumer Law Issues for Military and Veterans
  • Representing Veterans in the Disability Claims Process of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) (this CLE will satisfy the requirements for continuing education in the first year of accreditation with the VA for those who apply in advance and receive their accreditation.
