Called to Serve: Addressing the Legal Needs of Veterans

Saturday, February 4, 2017
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
JW Marriott Marquis Miami | Plaza 5 |5th Floor Miami, FL

The legal profession owes more than gratitude to our nation’s veterans. Legal barriers often make it difficult, if not impossible, for those who have served in the military to receive the rightful benefits and services that federal and state governments provide. The ABA’s Presidential Veterans Legal Services Commission is positioning the ABA to lead a holistic, sustainable effort to ensure that veterans have access to justice and receive the legal support they, their families, and their caregivers deserve.

As part of this effort, the Commission will present this special free CLE program for bar leaders, law schools, and public interest, and private and government attorneys on the legal needs of veterans and how to establish pro bono initiatives to address these needs. Learn how to establish medical-legal partnerships; legal clinics for veterans in various settings; and innovative ways to address the legal needs of rural veterans.

To register for the ABA Midyear Meeting, please Click Here or register on site beginning Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Miami, Riverfront Hall Foyer, Lobby Level. You must be registered for the Midyear Meeting to attend the program but there is no fee for the program. Be sure to pick up your badge at registration for admittance.
