Custody & Visitation Cases with Military Parents CLE

This webinar will discuss the impact of military service on child custody and visitation cases, the implications of deployment of the service member parent and strategies for representing both the service member and the non-service member in a child custody or visitation dispute. This webinar will also describe and discuss the implications of the Uniform Deployed Parents Custody and Visitation Act and the Turner Amendment on custody and visitation cases involving military parents.

Representation of a military service member parent presents unique challenges to the family law attorney because of the nature of military service. At the end of the program, the attendee should be able to:

  • Identify and describe the unique custody/visitation issue present in a case involving a military service member
  • Describe the Uniform Deployed Parents Custody and Visitation Act (UDPCVA) and the Turner Amendment and be able to articulate the impact of those laws on their case
  • Create litigation and settlement strategies to best represent their client in a custody/visitation case involving a parent who is a service member
