- Case Number: 21834
A pro bono attorney seeks assistance from another attorney to help with court appearances. The attorney has completed legal research for this case and will help draft court documents, but her location limits her time to make court appearances. This could be a great opportunity for attorneys wanting litigation experience. This case involves an activated Army National Guard member who wants to establish a custody order over his former stepchild. The soldier has been his teenaged stepchild’s only father figure since the child was an infant. The soldier and the child’s mother divorced. Thereafter, Child Protective Services removed the child from the mother and later another relative’s home, and CPS recently placed the child with the soldier, but there is no custody order. The soldier would like to establish a child custody order such that he can maintain custody and provide his stepchild with a safe and stable home.
