Norfolk, VA: Navy servicemember seeks pro bono assistance with a collections matter involving a car dealership

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

A Navy servicemember seeks pro bono assistance with a collections matter involving a car dealership. The servicemember bought a used vehicle at the dealership, and at the time of purchase, a salesman told the servicemember that, if the servicemember bought new parts from the dealership, they would perform the installation. The servicemember subsequently bought $5000 worth of parts from the dealership. When the parts did arrive, the dealership did not inform the servicemember for a couple of weeks; therefore, per the dealership’s policy, they claimed they now owned the parts and that the servicemember was not entitled to reimbursement. The servicemember is deploying soon and wishes to collect the money he paid the dealership, but the dealership since declared bankruptcy.
