An Air Force servicemember and his pregnant wife seek pro bono assistance with a landlord-tenant issue. The servicemember’s apartment recently caught on fire, due to faulty wiring. The fire destroyed several portions of the apartment, and despite the uninhabitable condition of the apartment, the landlord continued to demand rent payments. The servicemember subsequently moved out of the apartment, and the property manager said that, if the servicemember and his wife moved out all their property, their lease could be terminated.  However, when the servicemember went to collect their property, the landlord had changed the locks and refused to provide access to the apartment until the servicemember paid pro-rated portion of monthly rent. The servicemember seeks the return of his security deposit, as well as damages, from the landlord.
