- Location: Kitsap County
- Organization: ABA Military Pro Bono Project (Washington)
- Case Number: 22330
A Navy servicemember and his family seek pro bono help with a legal matter involving the decontamination of their uninhabitable home. Soon after purchasing and moving into their home, the military family’s young child became ill. With a strange scent in the home, the family had it tested for chemical residue, which showed substantial contamination by methamphetamine. The Health Officer ordered the home uninhabitable and is requiring the military family to decontaminate the property. With the high expenses relating to this issue, the military family seeks help to hold potential involved parties liable—either homeowners insurance, mortgage lender, former owners, and/or real estate agencies.
