- Case Number: 22815
A Navy servicemember seeks pro bono help with a consumer law matter involving the purchase of a vehicle. The sailor purchased a vehicle for his brother “as is”. Shortly after the purchase, the car started having major problems, including problems with the engine. It is believed that the “as is” disclaimer is ineffective under Virginia law. The sailor and his brother have asked the dealer to fix the problems with the vehicle multiple times to no avail. The sailor has surrendered the vehicle to the dealer and would like to cancel the contract.
