An Army servicemember seeks pro bono assistance with a child custody matter. The soldier had a child when she was young and not financially stable. Since she was moving to different shelters and could not care for her child, she gave custody of the child to a friend who has cared for the child. The friend has been emotionally and physically abusive to the child. Now that the soldier has been in the military for 2 years and is financially and emotionally stable, she would like to seek custody of her son, who is disabled, as she can provide better care and resources for the child through the military.
